Print Rules

  • Print rules can be assigned to Products or Categories to modify the actions taken when a Purchase or Sale of that item completes and printing is triggered.  It could be used, for example, to print a second copy of orders which require preparation to a second printer in a workshop or kitchen.
  • Possible actions are:
    • Prevent Default - Prevent the printing to the Terminal default printer as set on the Terminals page
    • Print to Default Receipt Printer - Print to the default printer for the terminal in use.  If Prevent Default is not also set, it will print an additional copy to the default
    • Print to Default Document Printer - Print to the default printer for the terminal in use.  If Prevent Default is not also set, it will print an additional copy to the default
    • Print to Receipt Printer - Print to the specified printer.  If Prevent Default is not also set, it will print an additional copy
    • Print to Document Printer - Print to the specified printer.  If Prevent Default is not also set, it will print an additional copy

If no default receipt printer is set, or if a Prevent Default rule with no subsequent print action is defined, the 'Receipt' buttons elsewhere in the application will do nothing when clicked (by design, as you've told them not to do anything).
